A super-stylish American cocktail shaker from the Art Deco period in the form of a coffee pot and typical of the prohibition-era shape designed to throw enforcement agencies of the scent of bootleg liquor (although its success is open to question!!).
This quality shaker has a chrome-plated, cylindrical form with a circular, sloping base and engraved banding decoration at the centre point. It features a curved, red Bakelite handle and is surmounted by a removable, stepped lid with red, fluted and tapering Bakelite finial. On opposite sides to the handle is a small spout with detachable, cork-lined, screw thread cap.
The shaker is marked to the base with a pictorial maker's emblem for Keystone Silver Co. and marked “Keystonwear Chrome plated”. The company was founded in 1914 in Philadelphia PA.
The piece measures 31cm high by 17cm wide and is in good vintage condition with no dents and the Bakelite presenting in excellent condition. There are some signs of surface wear (superficial surface scratches and other marks) visible under close inspection, consistent with both age and use.
