Superb framed Galleon & Lighthouse tile by William De Morgan dating to Late Fulham Period. The pattern features a galleon leaving port in full sail with rowers/lookout on choppy seas and a blowing wind, followed by a flock of gulls. The tile is painted in monochrome green sepia tones. Impressed mark for 1898. Measures 15cm by 15cm without frame.
Very good – crazing and a few firing flaws. Have not removed the tile from its frame but cannot see any chips on the upper edges when levering the slightly loose tile away from its frame.
