A wonderful pair of Arts & Crafts candle holders (c1890) in the aesthetic style designed by Dr Christopher Dresser (1836-1904) and manufactured by Benham and Froud (active 1790-1924). The turned centre columns and top candle holder are constructed of brass while the weighted base and decorative petal candleholder surrounds (wax trays) are fashioned from copper. Each candlestick has a lovely bobbin turned wood handle with brass finials. They stand 19cms high and 9.5cms at the base (widest point) and are the larger of the sizes that were produced.
Excellent – minor indentation on one but shallow and inconspicuous and reported only for completeness.
