A charming Arts and Crafts, hand-hammered, copper mirror with naturalistic repousse decoration (unsigned but possibly by John Pearson). The mirror features a base panel of two birds in opposing positions with trailing fruit and foliage along both sides and across the upper panel. The panel is attached to its original wooden background by copper nails and the mirror is recessed into the back of the frame. The frame has an easel-style back leg for secure standing.
Very good – the copper has a lovely patina with no signs of verdigris. Dents are visible on 3 of the 4 corners whilst the wooden backing shows signs of shrinkage but this has no effect on the structural integrity of the piece.
