A large and impressive polished pewter flower vase representing one of the most iconic Art Nouveau pieces to come out of the WMF factory in the early 20thCentury. Featuring classical maidens on opposing sides and stylised whiplash decoration in the form of flowers and intertwining stems, the vase has twin whiplash handles and its original clear glass liner. Impressed WMF marks (WMF, EP, lozenge, as) to the base and measuring 36.5cm high to the top of the handle. The vase has the model number 331 and is displayed on page 107 of the definitive WMF reference guide: ‘Art Nouveau Domestic Metalwork: From Wurttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik, 1906’.
Excellent overall condition – no dents and original glass liner in perfect condition.
