Simple yet stylish Art Deco-period, wooden cased mantle clock by Ferranti. The clock has a lovely organic form with its elegant and tapering lines, broken pediment top, stepped base, pierced hour/minute hands, stylised clock-face lettering and time scale.

Ferranti was a UK electrical engineering and equipment firm that operated for over a century from 1885 until it went bankrupt in 1993. The company was once a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

The firm was known for work in the area of power grid systems and defence electronics. In addition, in 1951 Ferranti began selling the first commercially available computer, the Ferranti Mark 1

Condition Report

Very good – the wood case is in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of wear consistent with age. There is some uneven colouration on the top surface hidden behind the pediment. The cream dial is in good original condition although there is some deterioration of the small metal dial above the 6 o’clock position (see pictures). The clock is in full working order, having recently been rewired. It accepts power and responds to the spin request.
