A wonderfully modelled pair of Art Deco porcelain candle-sticks (almost certainly French) in the form of marching males (possibly Turkish or Moroccan) in stylish attire of suits, traditional slippers, stripey shirts and fezzes. They are painted in cream and gilt with each figure standing astride a faceted tray, carefully balancing the candle holder on their left shoulder. They are unsigned apart from the model number 859 and each measures 20.5cm high and 15.5cm wide at the base.
Fair to good – no chips or cracks but some gilding loss and a few small patches of crazing commensurate with age. Evidence of some touching up on the gilding of the male figures which appears long standing. All these flaws add character to the pieces as well as proof of authenticity.
